James Tate is toying between races at Sandown and Deauville early next month for his exciting prospect Far Above.

The Group Three Coral Charge at the Esher track on July 6 and a Listed contest in France a day later are the options for Far Above – who has just had the three starts in April, May and June.

“He’ll either go to the Coral Charge at Sandown on Saturday week, or for a Listed race at Deauville the following day,” said Tate.

“We’re minding him for next year, so he’s having nice gaps between his races.

“We see him as a good horse for next year, but we’re just climbing him carefully through the ranks.”

Should Far Above turn up at Sandown, one of his rivals could be the Henry Candy-trained Kurious – who struck over the course and distance this month.

“The Hot To Trot-owned filly won the Scurry Stakes and she might go to the Coral Charge in a couple of weeks,” said Sam Hoskins, racing manager for Kennet Valley Thoroughbreds.

Tate, meanwhile, reports Hey Gaman to be in prime condition following his latest success in the Group Three Prix du Palais-Royal at ParisLongchamp – and is looking to get him back on the track next month.

“He’s in perfect nick,” said the Newmarket trainer.

“He’s got a choice between a Group Two at the Curragh (the Minstrel Stakes) on July 20 or alternatively the Lennox Stakes (at Glorious Goodwood) 10 days later.”
