Nicky Henderson reports Santini to be “firmly back on track” for RSA Insurance Novices’ Chase after a recent injury scare.
The leading Cheltenham Festival hope went for a racecourse gallop at Newbury on Sunday, but he pulled off a shoe in the process and Henderson described him as lame and sore on Tuesday.
However, the Seven Barrows handler posted a video of the seven-year-old trotting on the gallops on Wednesday and all is on course for next Wednesday now.
Henderson tweeted: “All is well in the world with Santini this morning and we’re firmly back on track for the RSA!”
Santini has won one of his two starts over fences this term, finishing third behind star mare La Bague Au Roi when upped to Grade One company on Boxing Day, and is as short as 3-1 for the RSA.
