Carol Vorderman was among the winners at Chepstow as part-owner of Subway Surf in the Irish Thoroughbred Marketing Mares’ Standard Open National Hunt Flat Race.
The former Countdown star was on hand to see the five-year-old land the odds in the colours of the Surf On The Turf syndicate.
Sent off the 4-7 favourite, the Kim Bailey-trained mare was always close to the pace and defied a 7lb penalty in determined style to beat Vienna Court by five lengths.
“It was fantastic. She strode out so well,” she told Sky Sports Racing.
“She’s just gorgeous and we’re just hoping to run her at Cheltenham next month at the April meeting.
“She goes over hurdles next season.”
