Ed Vaughan is looking forward to starting Desert Wind’s four-year-old campaign in the Matchbook Betting Podcast Rosebery Handicap at Kempton on Saturday.
Things have conspired against the Worthadd colt since he last graced the track in July, but he is now ready to return to action.
“He’s great. He’s fresh, but he’s fit. We’ve done plenty of work at home with him,” said the Newmarket handler.
“The mile and three round there should be fine. We’re looking forward to getting him out.
“The plan was to take the horse to Dubai and then at the last minute that got ditched, so we let him down a bit.
“Then we had him ready to run, but he injured himself in his box and couldn’t run. The plan had been to get him ready for the all-weather finals (at Lingfield on Good Friday).
“He ran very well in the Britannia, finished fourth and his run on the July course (fourth to Communique) was very good as well.”
