Christian Williams will be praying for rain at the end of next month to give Potters Corner the chance to back-up his gutsy Midlands Grand National success in the bet365 Gold Cup at Sandown.
The nine-year-old put falls in his two previous race behind him by outpointing Ms Parfois by three lengths, as the pair dominated the Uttoxeter marathon from the third-last fence and pulled 12 lengths clear of Get On The Yager in third.
“I’m going to enter him for the bet365 and hope they get a drop of rain,” Glamorgan-based Williams told Sky Sports Racing.
“If they don’t he’ll go to France. There’s a good French calendar. I’ll probably run him once in France.
“He’s been fairly busy since Christmas, so we’ll turn him away after that for some summer grass and look forward to training him for the Grand National next season.
“They put him up 10lb and Ms Parfois up 7lb. The two of them pulled a long way clear and were impressive.
“It’s nice he got his jumping together. He was unlucky in his two previous runs and has done nothing but improve this year.
“It’s a shame the season is ending, but he proved at Uttoxeter he wants a bit of cut in the ground, so it’s fingers crossed for the bet365.”
