Anapurna ran out a comfortable winner of the Listed RaceBets Money Back All Losers Oaks Trial Fillies’ Stakes at Lingfield.
Trained by John Gosden and ridden by Frankie Dettori, Anapurna was sent off the 7-4 favourite for the extended mile-and-three-furlongs event but she did not make it easy for her rider.
Dettori was noted pushing along mid-race as Cape Islay put the pace to the race, but once they rounded the term for home, Anapurna kept finding all the way to the line.
Tauteke looked set to give the market leader a race, but Anapurna eventually eased clear for Dettori and passed the post six lengths to the good.
Anapurna is entered in the Investec Oaks at Epsom on May 31 and she is now a 10-1 chance from 33s with Betfair.
Gosden said: “This has been the plan since she won on the all-weather here. We are thrilled with her as she is very inexperienced as she has only raced on the all-weather.
“It’s been so dry she has not even worked on the turf this year. I like the way she changed her legs to come down the hill correctly to her near fore.
“She galloped out strongly and it was a really good trial effort.
“We will see how she is over the next few days – that is the most critical thing. If she takes it well and she is in great form, she is in the Oaks already that would be a strong possibility. We’ve got some lovely fillies by great owner-breeders.”
