Fergal O’Brien hopes to see Poetic Rhythm back on the racecourse soon.
The eight-year-old provided the Gloucestershire-based trainer with his first and only Grade One victory to date when landing the Challow Hurdle at Newbury two years ago – but he has only run four times since.
The Flemensfirth gelding disappointed twice at Cheltenham in the spring of 2018, was pulled up on his chasing debut at Chepstow in October last year and then a distant second to Rocky’s Treasure at Wetherby the following month – since when he has been sidelined by injury.
O’Brien said: “He’s back on the go. He was entered at Bangor next week – but he won’t go there, and we will wait for another couple of weeks.
“He will start back over hurdles. I wouldn’t put it past him going back over fences at some stage.
“He has had a small operation on his back. He will definitely start back over hurdles.”
