Ed Vaughan is looking forward to next year with his talented filly Dame Malliot, after deciding to draw stumps for this season.

Having claimed Group Two glory in France on her penultimate start, the daughter of Champs Elysees failed to fire at the same level when beating only two rivals home in last week’s Park Hill Stakes at Doncaster.

With her name subsequently removed from Group One entries in the Qipco British Champions Fillies & Mares Stakes at Ascot and the Prix de Royallieu at ParisLongchamp, Vaughan is looking ahead to the 2020 campaign.

Vaughan said: “We are going to put Dame Malliot away for the season now.

“She had a hard race in France on ground that she didn’t like, and that was obviously coming off breaking the mile-and-a-half track record at the July Course the time before.

“She had a couple of hard races and she ran a little bit flat at Doncaster, a little bit like she had gone over the top and she wasn’t herself that day.

“She is still not fully furnished, so giving her a break now will allow her more time to fill into her frame.

“I think we will probably stay at a mile and a half next season, because she isn’t slow.”
