Might Bite could take on dual Grand National victor Tiger Roll in the Glenfarclas Chase at the Cheltenham Festival.

Nicky Henderson is considering giving multiple Grade One-winner Might Bite an outing over the cross-country course, in a race which has also been earmarked as a target for Gordon Elliott’s Aintree hero.

Having failed to complete either of his first two starts this season, Might Bite showed a glimpse of his former self at Newbury on Saturday, finishing a respectable third behind Native River in the Grade Two Denman Chase.

Henderson said: “We have been trying to rekindle him back to form and we are thinking of the cross country chase at Cheltenham, but it is only an idea.

“We have been messing about with him for a few weeks at home, jumping all sorts of funny things, and he has been enjoying it.

“There have been a lot of people calling for him to be retired, but we rode him differently on Saturday, out on his own and he really enjoyed it and jumped great.”

The Seven Barrows handler is hoping to hear positive news regarding stablemate Never Adapt, who was taken for X-rays after pulling up lame in the Betfair Hurdle.

He added: “All those that ran at Newbury yesterday were fine except for Never Adapt. She did appear to have a problem and was taken straight to the equine hospital near Newbury.

“She jumped the first, then something went wrong and Barry pulled her up. They hadn’t found anything straight away, so they did some X-rays last night as she was quite a sore girl.”
