Jessica Harrington has big plans for Lynwood Gold after the five-year-old stayer won on the Flat for the first time since joining her stable.
The Mastercraftsman gelding did win over hurdles for Harrington in March, but had not struck on the level since October 2017 when he was with Mark Johnston at Middleham.
He put that right with a gutsy one-length verdict over Mirann in the Sky Bet Ebor Trial Premier Handicap.
Lynwood Gold could revert to the smaller obstacles at the Galway Festival, while his main target on the Flat is the Irish Cesarewitch.
“He’s a good stayer and he likes that bit of ease in the ground. He might run over hurdles in Galway,” said the County Kildare handler.
“The Cesarewitch at the end of the year is probably his aim. How we get to there, I’m not sure.
“I’m delighted with that, because he’d been threatening to do it. I thought the second horse was going to go past him, but he put his head down and came back at him.”
