Ismail Mohammed’s prolific sprinter Good Effort is to head to Dubai as connections eye a big prize in the Middle East.
The five-year-old has posted seven wins on both the turf and the all-weather and is currently unbeaten from his last five racecourse appearances.
The most recent of those victories was in the Listed Betway Golden Rose Stakes at Lingfield – a success that gained him a fast-track qualification for the All-Weather Championships held at the same course in the spring.
That engagement will be side-stepped, however, as the horse is due to relocate to Mohammed’s Dubai base next month.
“After the win in the Listed race at Lingfield, the connections decided to take him to Dubai,” said the trainer’s assistant, Jose Santos.
“He’s still here, but he will go by the middle of December and he’ll still run for Ismail Mohammed there.”
Dubai will also provide a good base for the Mohammed team to explore other races in the Middle East, with valuable contests held in Saudi Arabia and across the United Arab Emirates.
“They are looking for some kind of Group race, maybe Saudi Arabia – in Dubai they are close to different points that they can send him to. It depends how he does out there,” Santos said.
“He was going to go to the All-Weather Championships, but after the win in the Listed race they are hoping to take him to try a big race in Dubai, or around Dubai, before he is retired.”
