James Tate expects Shimmering Dawn to be “bang there” in the Get Your Ladbrokes Daily Odds Boost Fillies’ Conditions Stakes at Wolverhampton on Monday.
The five-year-old won twice in 2020 to go with her hat-trick of victories in 2019, most recently justifying favouritism in a four-runner conditions race at Lingfield last month.
Tate feels his mare is in even better form now ahead of her latest assignment in a fast-track qualifier, which offers the winner a guaranteed start in the Ladbrokes All-Weather Fillies & Mares Championship at Lingfield on Good Friday.
“Shimmering Dawn had an interrupted preparation going into her last start at Lingfield, so we were pretty pleased that she was able to get the job done under a 5lb penalty,” said Tate.
“She has come out of Lingfield in very good form and I am much happier with her heading into this race.
“On the ratings she looks to have a favourite’s chance and, all being well, she will hopefully be bang there.”
Shimmering Dawn has upwards of 7lb in hand over her six rivals on official ratings.
Days after announcing her engagement to fellow jockey Tom Marquand during a brief holiday in the Caribbean, Hollie Doyle returns to the saddle to partner Archie Watson’s Dancing Feet, while David Loughnane saddles course and distance winner Amber Island.
Ed Walker’s Amniarix also has winning form at Dunstall Park, while Richard Spencer’s pair of Odyssey Girl and Stay Classy and Starry Eyes from Jane Chapple-Hyam’s yard complete the field.
