Oisin Murphy will miss the Lincoln meeting at Doncaster due to a whip use suspension.
The reigning champion jockey will be sidelined for the opening meeting of the Flat turf season after using his whip once above the permitted level of six strikes when riding Caliban to victory at Southwell on Tuesday.
That contravention of the rules has triggered a deferred suspension under the ‘totting up’ procedure, meaning Murphy will be out of action March 24-31 inclusive, with the Lincoln fixture taking place on March 28 and 29.
Charlie Deutsch was another rider to breach the regulations in recent days, using his whip twice more than permitted when riding Martator to victory in Wednesday’s Grand Annual.
As Deutsch broke the rules in a class one race, his penalty is doubled to 14 days – a suspension which means he cannot ride on the first two days of the Grand National meeting at Aintree.
His suspension runs March 27-April 2 and then April 4-10. He was also be fined £1,550.
Conor Stone-Walsh was also banned for eight days (March 27-April 2 and April 4) following his third-placed ride on Break My Soul in the same race.
