Aidan O’Brien has said it would be “incredible” if he can reach 100 Royal Ascot winners this June.
The master of Ballydoyle currently has 96 on his record and with a fair wind might expect to gain the four he needs later this year.
O’Brien trained five winners at the meeting last season but was pipped to the leading trainer award by John and Thady Gosden, who also saddled five but saddled more seconds.
“It would be unbelievable for everyone to get to 100 winners,” said O’Brien.
“It’s a big team effort and I know the lads (John Magnier, Michael Tabor and Derrick Smith) love Ascot, it’s like Cheltenham for us.
“It’s a beautiful week, everything is class but every race is so competitive. 100 would be incredible for everyone.
“It’s very important and the lads love it when the weather is nice and the racing is fantastic. Everything here is about Epsom, the Classics and then Ascot.”
