It could be a big day for Harry Eustace at Doncaster on Saturday with La Botte heading the betting at the five-day stage for the William Hill Lincoln and stable star Docklands also entered.
An unlucky second at Royal Ascot, La Botte was an eyecatching fourth on his only run since in the Lincoln Trial at Wolverhampton recently.
Eustace said: “He seems to have come out of it very well. We’re obviously delighted with how he ran and to be honest the race did the last of the heavy lifting work-wise for him, we’ve just been ticking him over into Saturday.
“I think in time he will stay a mile and a quarter so at the very least I hope there’s a bit of improvement there but we’re unexposed on the grass, I think he’ll enjoy a bit of cut in the ground as well so I’m hoping there’s improvement to come.”
William Haggas’ Eternal Force had been ante-post favourite until recently and has also been declared. He won his last three races last season.
Rogue Diplomat, Shout and Botanical, due to have his first run for Karl Burke are among those left in.
Docklands is one of three Group One winners in the Listed William Hill Doncaster Mile.
The 2025 Queen Anne winner was in the mix for going out to Dubai but the uncertainty over the situation in the Middle East currently saw Eustace change tack.
Similar comments also apply to the Ed Dunlop-trained Skukuza, twice a winner in Ireland last season.
Ralph Beckett’s Qirat, who caused a 150-1 upset in the Sussex Stakes when supposedly employed as a pacemaker for Field Of Gold adds further intrigue.
John and Thady Gosden’s Chancellor, narrowly beaten in the Winter Derby, Ed Walker’s Ten Bob Tony, third in the Prix de la Foret and Kevin Ryan’s Volterra are also among 12 entries.
Annaf, James’s Delight, Jasour, Montassib and Spycatcher are all engaged in the Listed William Hill Price Boosts Every Day Cammidge Trophy.
In the Brocklesby Stakes, which this year is being run in memory of the late Bill Turner who won the race six times, his daughter Cathy has three of the 22 entries, Martha Brown, Nevernotrememberu and Summersadness.
