The training partnership of Dr Richard Newland and Jamie Insole will have their first runner on Dubai World Cup night when Dividend aims to continue his Meydan odyssey in the Dubai Turf.
Yet to finish out of the first three in four races at the Carnival, the duo could hardly have dreamed he would have progressed into a Group One performer.
“Dividend has had an amazing time in Dubai. We have really seen him flourish and live up to the expectations we had as we always held him in high regard. He ran fourth in the Britannia Stakes at Royal Ascot last year, so it is great to see him improve and do well at this level in Dubai,” Insole told Great British Racing International.
“We stepped him up in trip and he won two handicap races well. Then the only target left for him was the Group Two Singspiel Stakes eight days after his second win. So we rolled the dice knowing the race was coming quickly, but he still put in a quality performance to run a career best.
“It’s such an honour and privilege for him to be in the Dubai Turf. He was one of the first yearlings we bought with Matt Houldsworth when I started training and to get him to reach this level is special.
“He has been in great form since Super Saturday. As mentioned, he had a short gap between his second win and Super Saturday. We freshened him up and did two pieces of work on the grass so is coming into this race with a better preparation. He seems happy and in great shape.”
