Hollie Doyle believes Rogue Supremacy is back down to a realistic mark in the BetMGM All-Weather 3 Year Old Championships Handicap at Newcastle on Good Friday
He won at Hamilton last summer before stepping up to Group company and was only just beaten by Five Ways in the Sirena Stakes at Kempton while in the care of David O’Meara.
He switched to Archie Watson earlier this year and was not beaten far on his first run for his new handler at Lingfield before going on to finish third at Southwell.
Doyle told Sky Sports Racing: “He’s a horse we haven’t had too long. He ran pretty well on stable debut to be beaten only two and a half lengths.
“He won his nursery debut as a two year old off of 87. He’s got some great form, he was only beaten a nose in the Sirenia at Kempton and after that he did get hiked up 8lb.
“He’s fairly consistent, he’s tough and game. I think Newcastle will suit him. He was progressive as a two-year-old.
“He’s paid the price for Kempton with his handicap mark but he’s come down 3lb to 94 now and he has proven he can operate off that and he’s been working well at home. He shows plenty of pace at home in his work and he’s very versatile.”
Doyle is keen to see just what Watson might have with Paris Babe in the BetMGM Fillies’ And Mares’ Championships Handicap.
She won twice in France for Gavin Hernon before heading to Watson and makes her stable debut on Tyneside.
Doyle said: “She’s a very likeable type. She was bought from the Arqana sale for €32,000. She’s very honest and very straightforward in her work. I think she’ll enjoy the stiff track. I think it really suits her. We couldn’t be happier with her. She starts off 91 so we’ll just have to see where she’s at.”
