Silent Beauty appears set for a return to Group company this autumn having got back to winning ways with a Listed strike at Ripon last week.
Trained by Kevin Philippart De Foy, the €1 million yearling is by Night Of Thunder and out of Matron Stakes winner No Speak Alexander and created a taking impression on debut when handing the now 97-rated Scommessa Sicura a four-length beating at Yarmouth.
Fast ground proved her undoing when pitched straight into a red-hot Queen Mary Stakes at Royal Ascot, but given plenty of time to freshen up during the height of summer, she served a real reminder of her potential in her trip to Yorkshire, romping home three-lengths clear of her nearest pursuer Rogue Jewel.
It was a victory that delighted her handler who now expects further progress throughout the rest of the season with some ease in the ground.
Philippart De Foy said: “She was very straightforward and showed a great attitude at Yarmouth on her debut. She was below par at Royal Ascot but we had reason to believe she would come back from it and she was very professional at Ripon and won in a nice fashion going away.
“Ascot was a bit too much too soon on very fast ground. The dam was a winner on slightly slower conditions and although this filly doesn’t need slow ground, she certainly doesn’t want it very fast. It’s the reason we gave her plenty of time and really freshened her up for this time of year.
“She’s a very well-bred filly and it was important to get her black type and at this time of year with a bit of juice in the ground she could be capable of better.
“We’ll look at all Group race options over six or seven furlongs and there are plenty of decent races coming up. There’s no set plan at this stage but there’s plenty of races to consider.”
