Verdict
LULAMBA is already a Grade 1 winner over fences and his commendable third in the Arkle was a game effort considering his pedigree and style of running have always suggested a longer trip should suit. This race was mentioned shortly after Cheltenham and taking into account that he is by far the highest-rated contender, Nicky Henderson's five-year-old is hard to oppose. Koktail Divin is respected but has 12lb to find based on the official ratings, while Jax Junior (18 lengths and one place behind Lulamba in the Arkle) and Mambonumberfive face even sterner tests off level weights.
Expert View Verdict
LULAMBA didn't quite have the tactical speed of the first pair home in the Arkle last time but he would've been a bit closer but for a shuddering error 2 out and he can make amends over this longer trip. His Game Spirit victory has already been boosted with the way he powered clear that day suggesting the Grade 1 winning hurdler and chaser would have more to offer over further. Koktail Divin impressed with his jumping when an easy winner in Ireland on his penultimate start and that form took a boost in the Irish National this week. He travelled well for a long way in the Brown Advisory at Cheltenham but plainly didn't stay the 3m. Dropped back in distance he could provide the main challenge ahead of Mambonumberfive who couldn't jump out of the heavy ground in the Kingmaker last time. However the Wayward Lad winner brings in course experience and could resume his progression back on this quicker surface.
