Verdict
On her last seven starts, Devon Skies has either won or been pulled up and she needs to bounce back from a disappointing effort at Sedgefield. Avalon Beach landed a maiden hurdle at the same venue in November and ran with credit when runner-up at Wetherby last time. The vote, though, goes to ABBEY SCOPE. Nicky Richards tends to be very patient with his horses and it wouldn't be a huge surprise to see this six-year-old step forward considerably on his handicap debut.
Expert View Verdict
ABBEY SCOPE is yet to match the form of his bumper win but he looks on a generous mark based on that and he has shaped with promise on a couple of his starts over hurdles. He was outpaced over 2m last time suggesting that this longer trip should suit and he is chosen to defeat Byron Hill who hinted at a revival when placed last time off a much reduced mark. If his stamina holds up he can fill the places with maiden Wise Move who has been running into form recently and showed a willing attitude last time.
