Verdict

L'astroboy was off the track from March 2023 to December 2025 and, although yet to recapture his best, two races this season might see him returning to his peak. Vol Royale makes his handicap debut after winning a maiden and a novice on his last two starts and he has to be considered, but GLYNN BRAE is preferred. Down in class after struggling in better races, he won a similar contest at Sandown in November off 2lb lower and gets on well with jockey Toby McCain-Mitchell.

Expert View Verdict

This is a typically tricky 2m handicap hurdle. It might just be edged by the improving DOUBLE OBAN who won with a bit in hand last time, he is four from his last six and has risen from a mark of 100 in that period. Vol Royale is a viable threat having himself stepped forwards markedly in his last few starts and being open to further progress. Razzle Dazzle Boy is also in good form and possibly progressing as well but looks on a shallower upward trajectory than the other two.
