Expert Analysis
Sparan Nua was the first three-year-old to win this since 2020 and looked a good prospect in doing so, coming from mid-division off a steady pace (her own finishing speed percentage was 111%) to win on a track that often favours those ridden forward.
SPARAN NUA made her debut just five weeks ago but is improving rapidly and showed a good attitude to lead late having conceded first run to the second. She travelled nicely in mid-division and was green when initially asked for her effort before knuckling down well. The Irish Oaks will demand more, especially with Thundering On in the field, but she is going the right way.
NYRA stepped forward on her Irish debut, travelling best and getting a kind trip through the race tracking the leader. Her rider dropped his whip over a furlong from home, but she responded well to hand riding, and it may have suited her as she has looked temperamental in the past.
BOSPHORUS ROSE was having her first start for Paddy Twomey and should improve for the run, as many from the yard have done this season. Having initially gone forward, she raced in mid-division and kept on steadily late.
ERETRIA had a messy start to the race and had to race in rear, making headway in the straight to take fourth late.
PERFECT YOUR CRAFThad gone forward on her first start for Twomey but was a little slowly away here and had to race in rear. She found herself in a bad position before making some late headway though her head carriage was a little awkward and she wore cheekpieces for the first time.
MARAZION was surprisingly dropped in distance having looked a strong stayer last time and should be better back over further.
BLOOM wore blinkers for the first time but made little impact despite getting the run of the race in front.
JANNAH STAR was never involved.
ICE DANCER was another to go forward but finished up getting beaten a long way.
