Expert Analysis
A big field contest that went the way the market suggested, the joint favourites fighting out the finish. The pace was solid, Faiyum over-racing in the lead for Colin Keane, and that suited the winner who is proven over further.
MISS SCOTT was dropping down in distance and was suited by a decent gallop, her rider doing well to slot in from a wide draw. She came off the bridle before several of her rivals but responded strongly to pressure and won with a bit in hand. Lightly raced and with more to come as she steps back up in trip, she is one to look forward to whether it be this season or next.
FAIYUM had not been at her best in two early season starts but returned to form after a break and should continue to run well this backend as the ground comes in her favour. She raced more keenly than ideal and had no response when the English raider passed her late, but this trip is no issue for her if she settles better.
SINDRIA was another returning from a break, and she ran up to her best to finish well into third. Both her wins this season have come at Gowran, and the Denny Cordell Lavarack & Lanwades Stud Stakes at that track next month will likely be her next start.
SAGA GAGA is proven over further than this but ran well despite having a wide trip for much of the race.
BOSPHORUS ROSE was dropping down three furlongs in trip but shaped similarly to last time over 12 furlongs at Cork, travelling well but not finding as much as anticipated. She has a bit to prove just now.
MERIDEN was unproven at this trip and was given a ride to that effect. Held up, she travelled nicely into the straight and made a good move from the three-furlong pole but was caught too far back.
SYZYGY is inclined to be slowly away and found this trip too sharp.
PIVOTAL ATTACK looks a speedy type, and may have been stretched by this trip, while her yard continues to struggle for winners,
DROP DEAD GORGEOUS disappointed again.
DELLA PACE was given a lot to do and made some late headway.
SPICY MARGARITA raced close to the pace but weakened in the straight.
THALARA was having her first run in 11 months and ran on a little late. She should improve for this and was not far off this level last year though has been fragile.
GARDEN PARTY won a maiden last time but found this company too tough.
SKY WATCH got bustled about early and was never travelling before being the first beaten.
