At The Races Verdict

DALSTON LAD has improved with each start over hurdles and was last seen beating experienced rivals in a handicap over C&D a month ago. On that evidence, Dan Skelton's gelding could take plenty of beating back against novices. The main threat is likely to be Reckless Spending after his 15-length success at Kempton a couple of weeks ago. That said, Ubatuba and Whiskey Yankee are other exciting prospects to consider.

Expert View Verdict

A competitive staying novice. Reckless Spending looked good at Kempton and almost certainly has more to offer, but he did struggle in a similar race to this at Cheltenham previously and he may not want the ground too deep. The selection is UBATUBA, who retained his unbeaten record when completing in impressive fashion at Leicester last time, fairly bolting up under a penalty in what looked a good novice. Well at home on deep ground and probable improver upped to 3m, he looks to hold strong claims, the only drawback being his rider can't claim his 5lb. Dalston Lad has C&D winning handicap form to his name and could improve again to be competitive here, while Whiskey Yankee shouldn't be underestimated either for his good yard.
