Expert Analysis
This is seldom a strong race for a Grade 2 (My Drogo’s win in 2021 a recent exception) and the form is probably useful rather than better, but pretty solid at that level with a true pace on ground that was “good to soft, tending to soft” on times, the winner’s 58.34s for the final 4f equal to a 102.2% finishing speed. What had been the first was omitted on the final circuit.
PERSONAL AMBITION (h137 here, 130+ previously) improved a bit further and has now won 3 out of 4 over hurdles, not among the top echelon of novice hurdlers yet but still with potential. He was always close up, a bit sloppy with his jumping early, going on again 3 out and staying on well for pressure on the run-in. He probably was not himself when beaten at 20f and should stay that trip.
JANGO BAIE (h141 here and previously) ran creditably again under a penalty but is beginning to look exposed in hurdles, tracking the pace travelling strongly until tapped for tow 2 out, rallying on the flat but tending to edge right under pressure and failing to get past.
CANNOCK PARK (h138 here, 130 previously) ran a cracker, his best race yet, tracking the pace, asked for an effort 3 out and staying on until one paced near the end. He looks the type to take to chasing in due course.
BERTIE’S BALLET (h125+ here and previously) did well to recover from being hampered at the 1st to get into a challenging position after 3 out (had been plumb last after that incident), one paced thereafter.
DRIPSEY MOON (h106 here, 128 previously) ran a bit better than the result, hampered at the 1st but making headway out wide to dispute second briefly 3 out.
