Verdict
WELSH CHARGER won this contest 12 months ago from a 1lb lower mark and was a respectable fifth in the Scottish Champion Hurdle on his next outing. The eight-year-old's fourth in the Greatwood in November is also decent form and he can bounce back from an underwhelming effort at Ascot last time. Afadil chased that rival home last year and won the 2024 renewal, so he has to be noted. Others to consider are Williethebuilder and Kateira.
Expert View Verdict
Last year's one-two Welsh Charger and Afadil could easily have a say, with the last-named fancied to come out on top of the pair this time round, but they could be vulnerable to WILLIETHEBUILDER, who is on a hat-trick following back-to-back wins on good ground at Kempton. He's up 6lb but gets on particularly well for today's rider and has speed to burn. Wise Eagle needs considering also being a useful and consistent dual-purpose performer who likes it here.
