Verdict
JALON D'OUDAIRIES was a smart bumper performer winning twice before placing in the Grade 1 Champion Bumper at the Cheltenham Festival in 2024. The Gordon Elliott-trained gelding has filled the runner-up spot twice when switched to hurdles after a lengthy absence and could go one better here. Poetisa was bought for 300,000 pounds after winning a Cheltenham bumper last spring, but didn't impress with her jumping when reappearing at Punchestown last month and may be better suited by this left-handed track. Healys Pub caught the eye on hurdles debut here last month and is also noted.
Expert View Verdict
This ought to be the day JALON D'OUDAIRIES gets off the mark over hurdles. Smart in bumpers, finishing third in the 2024 Champion Bumper at Cheltenham, he missed all of last season but has run to a useful level in both starts over hurdles so far and should prove well suited by the sligh step up in trip. He looks an ideal sort for a good handicap in the spring. Ownermate Poetisa looks the danger, the Willie Mullins-trained mare having shaped well on her hurdles/stable debut at Punchestown. She can certainly give the selection something to think about in receipt of 7lb. Healys Pub can do best of the remainder, having finished a fair fifth on hurdles debut here.
