Verdict
MOUDAN is a progressive sort and looks on a nice mark here back over timber. The Mount Nelson gelding is now rated 122 over fences after a game effort to take a rated novice contest over fences at Limerick, over Christmas. He is 8lb lower over hurdles and this looks like a nice opportunity to make use of that difference. Half A Chance ran a solid race when third to cosy winner Kotkito Bello at Thurles back in December. MOUDAN has got his act together over fences of late, having initially had jumping issues, and he showed a really good attitude when winning a beginners' chase at Limerick on Boxing Day. The return to hurdles is an interesting move, with him having won his two most recent starts over the smaller obstacles around this time last year. He's on a potentially favourable mark and could take the beating. Half A Chance is perhaps the main threat, although there's a doubt as to the suitability of deep ground. The veteran Halsafari might be next best, with the return to hurdles in his favour.
