Expert Analysis
A Group 3 that looks suspect form, fillies rated 89 and 87 filling the places along with the favourite disappointing, but the winner impressed with how she went through the race and made a good start to 2026.
HAVANA ANNA took a strong hold and travelled well, showing a good attitude late to hold off a couple of that came from further back and raced closer to the near side rail which looked an advantage. She has won all three of her starts at this track and while the form is underwhelming for the grade, she has more solid efforts than this, notably a second to True Love in the Cheveley Park. The pace she showed here suggests she will be at least as effective over a stiff five furlongs.
OH CECELIA put up a performance much better than her mark of 89 coming into the race, though she was suit by where she raced, her rider making a beeline to the near side from the stalls and racing there throughout. It remains to be seen if she can back this up.
TAHCAWIN shaped well in a premier handicap over course-and-distance last time and stepped up on that here though raced towards the favoured near side late. Her mark will suffer after this.
ROYAL BAY CEN was a wide-margin winner at Cork on testing ground when making her Irish debut, form that looked ahead of anything she achieved in France and largely backed it up on better ground here.
JOSH’S JOY ran her race but was out of her grade here.
KINDERGARTEN was another that was outclassed.
CHICAGO CALL has not been at his best this season but appeared to hit ridges here which unbalanced him.
CHARLES DARWIN had obvious form claims but didn’t run his race, his rider reporting that he briefly lost his action.
