Verdict
Jax Junior has to be respected on his handicap debut following a wind operation since his last appearance. That said, a chance can be taken on GUNSIGHT RIDGE, who has not been at his best of late but that means that he arrives here on the same mark as when successful in this contest 12 months ago. The consistent Escapeandevade edges out Dr T J Eckleburg and Kotmask to be best of the rest.
Expert View Verdict
Plenty of these have questions to answer so the safest bet might be last year's winner GUNSIGHT RIDGE, who is back down to the same mark as when winning 12 months ago. The ground on that occasion also happened to be heavy and, although the 11yo hasn't been in brilliant form of late, he would have found 2m on good ground at Cheltenham last time against him. Dr T J Eckleburg, runner-up last year, showed more tried in cheekpieces at Wincanton last time and he's on a fair mark if building on that, so rates the danger once again, with Kotmask of interest were it not for ground concerns. Jax Junior certainly has the ability to be on a really good mark but he bled last time and the ground may not be for him either.
