Verdict
KITZBUHEL created a very big impression when winning well in the Kauto Star at Kempton on Boxing Day and Willie Mullins' gelding is hard to oppose on the back of that performance. The main danger looks to be Kala Conti, who has won both of her starts over fences easily and receives a useful 7lb allowance. However, neither of Miami Magic or Sixmilebridge should be discounted but the latter is arguably the pick of that pair.
Expert View Verdict
Just the four runners but a fascinating edition of this Grade 1 novice due to the strong representation from Ireland. Gordon Elliott's mare Kala Conti is 2-2 over fences and was particularly impressive in disposing of Kargesse at Cork last time. She's been aimed at the race and is receiving 7lb, so a big run seems assured, but the manner in which KITZBUHEL flew around Kempton under a positive ride to win the Kauto Star over 3m was striking and similar tactics at often rewarded at Sandown. That form has been nicely boosted, with subsequent wins by the third and fourth, and he won't have any issue with the drop in trip on deeper ground. Sixmilebridge is unbeaten over fences himself and certainly not out of this for Fergal O'Brien, having been impressive in disposing of inferior rivals at Cheltenham last time.
