Verdict
Cabhfuilfungi finished a long way clear of the third when filling the runner-up spot at Uttoxeter, but will need to prove as effective stepping back up in distance. With that in mind, ALCEDO gets the vote. Only beaten a length into second in a warmer event at Doncaster in December, the eight-year-old competes off just a 1lb higher mark and looks the one to beat. Joker De Mai is another to keep an eye on.
Expert View Verdict
The Venetia Williams yard has returned to form recently and could gain another victory here with ALCEDO. He proved steadily progressive over fences last year and was just outstayed over 3m last time. Back down to his optimum trip he can account for Cabhfuilfungi who has proven generally consistent for the last year and has shaped as if this step back up in trip would suit. Joker De Mai has been running into form recently and remains 6lb below his last winning mark so could also be competitive.
