Verdict

Three-year-olds have won both installments of this contest and Hackney Diamonds looks the best of that contingent. Despite weakening over the mile at Sandown latest, she could be suited by a drop in trip and an ease in class will do her chances no harm either. Master Dandy showed signs of a return to form when second at Lingfield recently and is hard to ignore, but EVER DRIVEN is preferred. A winner over 7f at Lingfield last month, he might try to make all once again and, if doing so, he could prove hard to catch.

Expert View Verdict

TRUST SERGEI failed to beat a rival in two of his last three runs and obviously comes with risks attached but there were excuses for both of those (never involved from a poor draw) and sandwiched between the flops was a fine 4th of 12 beaten under a length at Chester. If forgiving the two below par efforts Gary Hammer's gelding has steadily progressed with each run and, given how well he's run here in the past, including a 3rd over this trip before his first win at 5f in April, he looks well worth chancing. The case for Ever Driven needs less explanation (or excusing), and is a solid alternative seeking a double. If able to get a handy position early he poses a huge threat to all. Rockstar Icon hasn't raced over 6f since his debut but hasn't been seeing 7f out for new connections the last three runs and is now stepped back. Oliver Cole's gelding has hinted at finding his level on a few occasions of late and is poised on a very threatening mark if the switch to a shorter trip works
