SO REGAL was only beaten by a length and a half when fifth in the Group 3 Atalanta Stakes at Sandown and that performance reads well now the daughter of Kingman drops in class. Her yard won this race 12 months ago and this low-mileage three-year-old appears well placed to follow up with Billy Loughnane taking over in the saddle. Midnight Tango has been highly tried and should also have an impact at this level, while Albaydaa and Dash Of Azure are notable alternatives based on peak form.
So Regal is the obvious choice on form for last year's winning yard. Her Michael Seely runner up effort has been franked multiple times at Group level and she ran well until her fitness gave out in the Atalanta Stakes last time. She will appreciate the drop in trip on quicker ground and will be tough to peg back if settling in front. However it could be worth taking a chance with the unexposed JOSH'S JOY who proved her stamina last time and was unlucky not to finish much closer having met trouble. She has been highly tried this year but is progressing and could take advantage of this drop in class. The inconsistent Midnight Tango needs to prove her stamina for this far but her runner up effort over 6f here on her reappearance so she is feared. Dash Of Azure was an unlucky loser in this last year and can't be ruled out either.

Tuco Salamanca had a bit in hand when he won the Shergar Cup Dash over C&D before he ran a blinder to grab second in the Ayr Gold Cup. The four-year-old deserves a crack at this level and another bold showing is likely. Shagraan is a regular in high-grade sprints, and impressive Ayr scorer Fluorescence merits close inspection too. However, a chance is taken on Portland winner AIR FORCE ONE, whose Doncaster triumph is a convincing piece of form and cutting back half a furlong shouldn't be an issue.
Progressive C&D winner Tuco Salamanca came clear with the winner in the Ayr Gold Cup winner and is likely to prove popular stepped up in class. However he will need a stiff test at the trip and there doesn't look to be too much early pace in the race. LIFEPLAN is likely to go forward as he did when placing on his reappearance in the Queensferry Stakes. The 2025 Gimrack winner failed to stay in the City Of York last time but he will appreciate the return to a quicker surface here. He's the least exposed in the field and could spring a surprise with an easy lead possible down in trip in first time blinkers. Former Group 1 winner Regional isn't the force of old but has to be respected at this level while last year's winner Shagraan arrives in form so should also be a threat.

Al Aasy is a regular in this race and is very capable of going one better than when filling the runner-up berth in the 2024 renewal. However, he picks up a 5lb penalty for winning the Grand Prix de Deauville last time out and slender preference is for his stablemate and last year's second TENABILITY. After giving weight and a beating to the rest in the August Stakes at Windsor, the William Haggas-trained four-year-old looks primed to add to his portfolio. The hat-trick seeking Plage De Havre and Godolphin pair Royal Playwright and By The Book are others to consider.
William Haggas holds a strong hand here with Al Aasy and TENABILITY. The former is a consistent multiple Group winner who returned to form last time but he has been beaten in a couple of weaker renewals of this so could be vulnerable to an improver. His stablemate sets the standard on his game Autumn Stakes win and while he may have reached his level it should be enough here. He's proven over this C&D on a quicker surface and he could be allowed to dominate here. The biggest dangers may be the Charlie Appleby pair Royal Power and By The Book. The former has had his issues but ran well in the Sheema Classic when last seen and will play a part if fit after a break. The latter was behind him in Dubai but has race fitness on his side having placed twice at Listed level this summer.

Although he arrives here as one of the lowest-rated in the line-up, Hidden Force is open to improvement on just his fourth outing and looks to possess enough speed to cope with a drop in distance. Charlie Appleby's colt isn't taken lightly, but DIVISION has posted some cracking efforts in defeat in Group 1 company and is difficult to get away from. The selection's stablemate Elmonjed didn't appear to enjoy underfoot conditions at Deauville and merits respect on the back of a 91-day break.
DIVISION sets the standard on his recent Group 1 runs. He was only out-battled late in the Prix Maurice de Gheest last time and placed over C&D in the Commonwealth Cup in the summer. That race has worked out extremely well and the return to this quicker surface will suit so he holds obvious claims. The steadily progressive Prince Of India landed the Hopeful Stakes last time and looks a big danger stepping back up in class in first time cheekpieces. Sayidah Dariyan wears the same headgear for the first time and may prove to be the main challenger. She ran well at the top level in the US last time from a poor track position after being narrowly denied in the Oak Tree Stakes previously. She was a Group 3 winner last year and stays 7f well so a stiff test at this trip could prove her optimum conditions.

Having relished a return to 7f when scoring over C&D, there is every chance that THUNDER CALL can strike again. The three-year-old competes off 9lb higher, but had enough in hand to suggest that it won't halt his progress and he gets the vote over York winner Machadadorp. Andrew Balding's filly enjoyed some cut in the ground on that occasion, but she might not prove quite as effective reverting to quicker conditions. Buckingham Palace victor Mezcala and Ayr Gold Cup hero Pellitory add further spice to the mix.
A hot race where last time out emphatic C&D winner Thunder Call is likely to prove popular. He is unexposed at 7f so is greatly respected but he has been raised 9lb so will need to improve again. Britannia winner Moonfall has held his form well in defeat since and his latest runner up effort is worth marking up as he conceded first run after meeting trouble. If getting a stiff test down in trip he should be thereabouts once again but minor preference is for the unexposed MACHADADORP who relished the step back up in trip when a winner at York last time. The form has been franked so the 8lb rise looks lenient and the quicker ground will be no issue. Dual Bunbury Cup winner Aalto has been fine form on fast ground this summer and was a touch unlucky last time after missing the break. He is also expected to be bang there.

Although he could only muster a fourth-placed effort at Haydock last week, ANCIENT STATE appeared to get bogged down by the testing conditions. Adam Kirby's charge was previously on an upward trajectory and reverting to faster ground should see him in a much better light. Adrestia finished second to the selection at Doncaster 20 days ago and she's feared most, ahead of Gold Star Hero, who arrives on the back of a close-up third over C&D.
GLAMOROUS BREEZE has shown a consistent level of form this term without winning but the handicapper is beginning to relent. She travelled strongly last time but probably challenged too early and flattened out late but can make amends here reversing form with Maelstrom. Adrestia bounced back to form off a reduced mark in first time cheekpieces last time and looks a big danger in the retained headgear. She is well treated on her 2025 Royal Ascot win and will be suited by the fast surface. Bone Marra needs to prove her effectiveness over the minimum trip but he has proven progressive on varying surfaces and could stay on for a place.
