CHARTED COURSE wasn't disgraced in the Windsor Castle before taking another step in the right direction when runner-up at Goodwood on his first start over 7f. That's the strongest form on offer and there is likely more to come from the son of Palace Pier on his first appearance after wind surgery. Green Star made a promising start when second at Chester and this faster surface could suit. Crystal Dark and Bombora are others to note.
Green Star ran a race full of promise on his debut at Chester and he's entitled to improve, but CHARTED COURSE has shown a useful level of form on all three starts, including when runner-up at Glorious Goodwood last time, and he's since undergone a wind op. If that helps then this should be the day he gets off the mark. Bombora, who needed his debut experience at Doncaster, and Cagney, down the field at York on his first start, are likely improvers but have plenty to find with the selection.

Woodleigh won over C&D in August and shaped well again back here last time. He'll be hard to keep out of the finish, but BRADBURY may edge affairs. Ed Bethell's inmate was winning for the third time this year when scoring on heavy going at Hamilton, but all ground comes alike to the son of Ghaiyyath and he looks worth sticking with. Jewel Maker won a division of this contest off a higher mark last year and could bounce back.
Although the drop to 10f isn't sure to suit, a good run from the top weight Hibernate wouldn't surprise with his mark still competitive, while the 3yo Bradbury should again go well even if the ground won't be deep like it was when he won at Hamilton last time. The selection instead is WOODLEIGH, a largely consistent 5yo who loves it here, winning over C&D three starts back and finishing a good second from this mark last time. He's the percentage play.

The application of a visor did to the trick for LADY HORNBLOWER last time. Jedd O'Keeffe's filly finally landed a handicap when successful over C&D and, given she won a shade cosily, it would be no surprise if she defied a 4lb rise. Placed here on her last couple of outings, Bay Dream Believer should prove competitive once again, while Recobella is usually in the mix and cannot be ruled out back on the turf.
Although not at her best at Newcastle last time, the mare RECOBELLA just doesn't seem to perform on the AW and she'd previously been in good form on turf, winning twice in six weeks, including at Thirsk in August. The 3yo Lady Hornblower scored over C&D last time when tried in a visor for the first time and she likes has more to offer so rates the danger, though Bay Dream Believer also goes well here, finishing third over C&D last time, and isn't one to discount either.

Karl Burke trained the 2022 winner of this race and can strike again with REVELS, whose credentials look solid after he narrowly failed to pick up some black type when fourth in the Mill Reef at Newbury a fortnight ago. Unexposed over 6f, the Lope De Vega colt has a big chance of shining in this company. Having won his first two starts before running really well in a couple of big sales races, Satellite Of Love is another useful prospect who represents the yard responsible for the 2023 winner. The unbeaten Thames Waterman and Beverley winner Myesme are appealing alternatives.
This looks between REVELS and Satellite Of Love, that pair being closely matched on form, with slight preference for the Burke runner mainly due to the fact that he boasts winning course form to his name. The selection is coming off a career best when finishing a good fourth in the Group 2 Mill Reef at Newbury last time and might have more to offer still. Satellite Of Love, runner-up in a valuable sales race at Doncaster last time, is right there with the selection on form and, after just four starts, could have a bigger effort in him still. Lightly raced pair Myesme, good winner of a Beverley novice last time, and Thames Waterman, unbeaten in two starts at Wolverhampton, are relative unknowns and could have a say, but it's Baddaddan who is third choice. That one found soft ground against him last time and could go well here on a drier surface in blinkers for a second time.

ELARAK has a decent prize in him and, having been placed in Listed company on his last two starts, the son of Kingman captures the imagination with the trip and ground ideal. Witness Stand drops in class and rates a big danger based on his peak form, while the admirable Audience retains enthusiasm and also warrants close inspection given he is much more accustomed to tackling Group races. Sondad is better known as a sprinter, but could have a say if his stamina holds out.
Witness Stand is the best of these on his day and he'll find the ease in grade to his advantage so rates the one to beat, but it was hard not to be struck with the manner of VALVANO's Southwell success on his first start over 7f following a wind operation. He's spent much of his career racing over 10f-plus but showed plenty of speed on the AW last time and might well be up to this level. Audience wasn't at his best last time but his earlier effort at Group 2/3 level put him in with claims here also.

Tim Easterby has a good record in this race and jockey bookings suggest that Double Parked may be the pick of his four entrants. However, David O'Meara could be the trainer to follow, with Theoryofeverything and RAJAPOUR both appearing to hold solid chances. The former is effective on a straight course and is very capable off this sort of mark. Even so, the latter struck over C&D in August and his proven liking for this venue swings the vote in his favour. Welbury and Wild Dahlia complete the shortlist.
Tim Easterby has a good record in this race and he's well represented with Double Parked looking the pick of his squad. That one is a former C&D scorer who has been running with credit over 10f. The drop in trip might suit, but there's surely a bigger efort yet in the filly WILD DAHLIA. The William Haggas-trained 3yo has yet to win a handicap but finished off strongly when third over C&D in July and hs had excuses since on slower ground. She still looks on a fair mark and has a bigger effort in her. Rajapour, already a two-time C&D winner this season, and Classic Encounter, a winner here in May and still competitively weighted, are others to consider seriously.

Duc De Kent caused an upset when regaining the winning thread at Epsom and merits respect in his follow-up bid. However, the son of Zelzal does need to prove his stamina over this additional quarter-mile and preference is for FLASH KOZO. The three-year-old scored over this trip at Southwell in July and his subsequent runner-up efforts suggest that another victory might be on the cards. Pace Attack and Northern Brave are others to consider in an open contest.
Duc De Kent is coming off a first British success and could again go well, but there are several 3yos in here with the potential to do better, in particular PACE ATTACK for Sir Mark Prescott. A game winner over 11f at Southwell two starts back, he backed that up when third at Lingfield and a more galloping track over 14f on turf now promises to coax further progress from the son of Australia. Flash Kozo is a proven stayer and should go well, as should According To Mark who tries 14 for the first time.

Having justified favouritism at Ripon last week, ACCRUAL makes plenty of appeal in his current heart. The five-year-old accounted for 13 rivals that day and a 4lb higher mark could prove to be lenient. Ziggy's Triton looked back to something like his best judged on his latest close-up second at Southwell and he may serve the most resistance to the selection, ahead of Wednesday's Musselburgh runner-up Mo Of Cairo.
This is very much Ziggy's Triton's level and he should again go well back on turf, while Mo Of Cairo has been in fine form and ran well at Musselburgh just the other day. Accrual is bound to be popular after he returned to winning ways at Ripon last week, but it's the 3yo DOLOS DREAM who is the selection. A two-time winner over 5f, she finished a good second at York two starts back before finding Class 2 level a little hot last time - she still finished ninth of 19. This is easier and her draw might work well.
