BEN PAULING can well believe Santa Claus arrived early for him and his team at Bourton Hill Farm in Bourton-On-The Water as Willoughby Court stamped himself down as one of the best novice chasers seen out when defeating Yanworth in the Grade 2 Ladbrokes Novices’ Chase at Newbury recently and just for good measure High Bridge chipped in a victory in the Ladbrokes Intermediate Hurdle (formerly the Gerry Fielden) at the same meeting.
It has been a whirlwind rise in his training career which only commenced at the start of the 2013 season and with 23 winners on the board already he shouldn’t be long in passing his personal best of 32 for 2016-17.
Pauling has the former top-class hurdler Barters Hill almost primed for action and several young horses of untapped talent who could well become household names in the future.
Ben said: “We have made a great start and I couldn’t be happier. We’ve got a lot of nice horses and they have been running well and what more could you ask of them.”
Ben kindly spoke to Tony Elves of ATR about those he hopes can carry on the good work as the season progresses.
