Christophe Ferland is busy. As always, his season started early with runners in Cagnes-sur-Mer and then at Meydan where his stalwart Double Major ran a very good second to Dubai Future in the Group 2 Dubai Gold Cup.
Back in Chantilly, which he has called home for the past year and a half, Ferland already sits comfortably in fifth place in the trainers’ table. “We had a good start to the season with our horses in Cagnes-sur-Mer and also elsewhere,” he says. “I was very happy with Double Major in Dubai. He is such a consistent performer, and we all adore him.”
Double Major, who carries the famous Wertheimer colours is set to stay in France this season, but there are some three-year-olds that are likely to race in England, not just at Royal Ascot, but also at other tracks like Chelmsford.
Here, Ferland talks Liz Price of attheraces.com through his main contender for the season ahead.
