The last couple of seasons has seen Donald McCain return to his previously high standards and with 98 winners and £838,514 in prize money last term there is no guessing that a return to centurion status will be on the agenda for the Bankhouse Stables trainer.
McCain has already sent out 37 winners so far and like most of his counterparts has been awaiting for the heavens to open to launch many of his stable stalwarts.
McCain said: “The last few weeks have been a bit frustrating for us and we are trying to get first runs of the season into many of them and with a bit of luck with the weather that would have happened. However, we are all in the same boat and we just have to be patient.”
The exciting Uppertown Prince and the classy Cloudy Dream and Mount Mews should all be making noise for McCain in the near future and he has a host of untapped Irish point-to-point talent who could well prove household names for a stable that is renowned for the longevity of it’s inmates.
Donald kindly spoke to Tony Elves of attheraces.com about those he hopes can blossom as the season progresses.
