EVE JOHNSON HOUGHTON is enjoying another lucrative season from her Blewbury base and the sweet smell of Group success has already been achieved with the likeable Jumby.
That success was notched in the John Of Gaunt Stakes at Haydock last month and a further creditable effort was witnessed at Newmarket last weekend in the Criterion Stakes when finishing runner-up to Audience. Jumby could be next seen in action over his specialist seven-furlong trip in the Lennox Stakes at Goodwood but Johnson-Houghton will have a few contenders at the July Meeting at Newmarket last week with the well in Streets Of Gold a likely contender for the Bunbury Cup.
Last season’s money-spinner for the Woodway team was the five times unbeaten Streets Of Gold who lived up his name with success in valuable Sales races at the Curragh and York last autumn and recently put up a fine performance in the Group 3 Jersey Stakes at Royal Ascot when third to Age Of Kings which puts him 4lb to his good in the Bunbury Cup.
Bobsleigh has been a revelation amongst the trainer’s juvenile team with his success in the Woodcote and subsequent sixth to River Tiber in the Coventry Stakes at Royal Ascot and he could be another chasing a big pot in the Super Sprint Newbury shortly.
All in all, in it looks another successful campaign is in line for the trainer and she kindly spoke to Tony Elves for attheraces.com as she looks ahead to a particularly busy period for her and her team.
