It has already been a season to remember for Harry Whittington with Vinnie Lewis providing the Lambourn trainer with a coveted victory in the Sussex National at Plumpton recently and in the process equalling his best total of 21 winners in the 2015-2016.
There can be no doubting that the Hill Barn Stables trainer is very adept at the placing of his horses as Court Liabilty, The Dubai Way and Octagon are three wins out of three so far this term and he has others with potential to match those achievements.
Bigmartre has proved a revelation since sent chasing this season and won both his races and took the notable scalp of Cyrname (winner of the Grade 2 Wayward Lad Novices’ Chase at Kempton over Christmas) and for good measure has the exciting Saint Calvados to go to war with in high class events after an imperious first effort over fences at Newbury.
An improvement of the personal best is a formality and with the likes of Simply The Betts and a couple of new horses added to his team there looks plenty of further happy days for Whittington and his team.
Whittington said: “It was brilliant to win the Sussex National and the horses have been performing really well and doing us all proud. We will just keep cracking away and hope we can carry on the way we have been going.”
Harry kindly spoke to Tony Elves of ATR about those he hopes can continue to prosper.
