He obviously did very well last year when winning five and we really haven’t had the right conditions for him yet. He needs a bit of juice in the ground and a mile. He’s entered this week but I don’t think we will run him unless the ground changes.

You can put a line through his run at Windsor on Sunday as the ground was pretty firm by the time he ran. The way he pulled out on Monday morning he didn’t do a tap and he’s learned how to look after himself.

She is a great big dual purpose bred mare who ran really well at Kempton last week but bumped into a better handicapped rival. We will see what the handicapper does.

Trainer says

She obviously didn’t fire when she went to Epsom and came back very quiet and was in season and something wasn’t quite right there. Hopefully, we can get her back for a Group 3 at Ascot on King George Day.

Trainer says

We were going to giving him a break and bring him back in the autumn and then I saw there were only six entries in the Coral Marathon on Friday so I gave him an entry. There are nine now but I will probably run him. I was quite nervous about running him at Ascot on fast ground but he took the race so well it’s a shame not to have a day out.

He has got a handicap mark now and he probably had a hard enough race in his first race at Bath and probably ran below that in his next two runs. We are just trying to freshen him up and look forward to an autumn campaign.

Trainer says

I think the plan for Quickthorn is to go to France in a couple of weeks on July 14 for a Group 2 staying race at ParisLongchamp. It’s the right sort of track and the right place to go. Depending on how he gets on there, he will get an entry in the Ebor. After what Trueshan did at Newcastle on Saturday I gave a bit more thought about going there and he could also be entered in the Lonsdale Cup. The staying division looks pretty good at the moment, but we have a horse that won the Gold Cup at Ascot that might not be the highest rated horse in the division if you take in Trueshan and Stradivarius on a going day. He is in the Irish St Leger , too, and there are those three Group 1s in October to consider; two in France and one of Champions Day and you have to aspire to that. I don’t know how good a race the Henry II was but he basically put them to the sword.

Trainer says

When it is dry and warm at Newcastle it’s a very slow surface, but when it’s wet, it’s very fast and he couldn’t handle the going the last day. He was also very badly interfered with but we will brush ourselves down and look for a race in a month. He is a fun handicapper.

She is a filly with lots of ability and we are trying hard to get Black Type. Every time they put her up the handicap so it’s hard to win handicaps too. She is a difficult horse to place.

Trainer says

He ran well in the Zetland and we think he is better than that. He should win or be thereabouts in a big handicap at some stage. The funny thing was that he was in fantastic form through the winter but when spring came around he wasn’t in such good form. It might be that we won’t see the best of him again until the All-Weather in the autumn but we will think of running him in the big handicap at York but I wouldn’t run him there if it was very fast ground.

The heat got to him at Ascot and he is basically a soft ground or All-Weather horse and he doesn’t thrive in the heat. We are giving him two or three weeks off and then are thinking of the autumn where he will, hopefully, be back to his best.

She obviously ran a brilliant race at York when second in the Bronte Cup. I am not saying she was the best horse on the day but the winner should have been thrown out. Riding at all costs is unacceptable to those of us who care about our horses and it doesn’t seem to be unacceptable to the BHA who are so hypocritical about horse welfare. They wouldn’t do it if the penalty was to lose the race and in most countries that would occur.

It is hard to get our head around him really and he’s like a sprinter. He is entered this weekend but he doesn’t want the ground too quick and is a horse that runs best when fresh. When he won, he obviously showed he was a horse with ability but when he doesn’t run his races it’s not a great look.

She won extremely well at Salisbury which was not by design but it was a pretty strongly run race which suited her well. She is alright but she needs a decent pace. We have put her in the Group 3 at Sandown on Saturday to have a look but we wouldn’t be wanting to run too much on fast ground this year but she has progressed from two to three. She is a very nice but cheap filly.

He is a decent horse and I think he’s still not sure how to race. When he came to us, he was still very keen and he is still very green. He is rated 99 and I think we will aim him at Goodwood for the three-year-old mile and a half handicap. When he is the finished article, he could stay and be a good horse.

He is entered in a valuable mile and six handicap at Haydock on Saturday. He doesn’t really deserve to be a maiden and tried hard last year. He is a bit on the small side but a fun handicapper to own. He is owned by a group of Australians so he could end up going there if he progresses.

He is quite a small horse but has done nothing but surprise us. To my amazement, he won a decent race at Sandown the other day and his best form is on softer ground. He is in that valuable handicap at Newmarket next week and we will see how the ground is.

We have always liked him but he hasn’t come to himself yet this year. I feel that he will be a better horse next year as a four-year-old but he has an engine and he could be a proper horse as a gelding.

I was very pleased with her the other day and she showed more speed in her race. We have never been that hard on her at home and we are always finding out something new about her on the racecourse. We have entered her for the Lancashire Oaks this weekend. That will be the plan if the ground is to our liking.

He won well at Pontefract on Monday and is lightly raced and, hopefully, can improve further. We will have to consider running him under a penalty before he is reassessed. Over time I think he will be alright.
