OLIVER SHERWOOD has his team ticking over satisfactorily with his 26 winners boasting a healthy strike rate of 17% and nearly quarter of a million in prize money and, although looking unlikely to field any contenders at Cheltenham, remains as enthusiastic as ever for his chosen career.
Sherwood has retired his major earner Papagana to the paddocks after gaining two black type and a Grade 1 placing in the Long Walk Hurdle but has a bright prospect for the future in Sevarano and the Andrew Brooks-owned pair Cervaro Mix and Dominateur look the sorts to add to his tally year in year out.
Several of his team have been patiently waiting for the drying Spring ground which could see them in action again shortly and if she can overcome her little teething problems then Lady In Waiting is surely a mare with a bright future over hurdles.
The long established Rhonehurst trainer kindly spoke to Tony Elves of ATR about those he hopes can sweep him past his last season total of 34 winners.
