Rebecca Menzies was dealing with frozen pipes in her Howe Hills Stables in Durham on Thursday morning, and as she waits for the recent freeze to abate it was an all-hands-on-deck approach to turn out her team for their normal routine.
Rebecca had her best season to date when notching 40 winners and collecting £429,753 in prize money in 2022-23, and the ambitious trainer, whose yard is only a stone’s throw from Sedgefield, will be looking to topple that total again this time around.
The yard has already sent out 18 winners this season and has some dependable sorts in Russian Virtue, Imperial Data, The Churchill Lad and Harper Valley who can swell that tally further, along with a few raw recruits looking to make an impact and become familiar names on the Northern circuit in the coming seasons.
Rebecca kindly talked to Tony Elves of attheraces.com about the team at her Durham base.
