Sandy Thomson heads for a busy weekend at the prestigious Trials meeting at Musselburgh with his team in the sort of form that suggests his already lucrative season could be in for further good fortune.
From his base at Lambden Farm in Greenlaw, Sandy has notched 24 winners from 105 runners so far, with a strike rate of 23% and earning £270,743 in prize-money.
The Berwickshire trainer enjoyed a first career four-timer at his local track Kelso in November at odds of 996-1, when Salvino, Sirwilliamwallace, Stoney Rover and Pavlik all obliged, and with Dingo Dollar landing a valuable chase at Aintree in October, there is plenty of reason to be cheerful.
Sandy said, “That was brilliant day at Kelso and, thankfully, things have been working out really well. Apart from his win at Aintree, Dingo Dollar, Hill Sixteen, Doyen Breed and Empire Steel, who are all rated highly, have not yet hit their form, and we have plenty of others coming through the ranks.”
Sandy kindly talked to Tony Elves of attheraces.com about his chances for Saturday and Sunday at Musselburgh, as well as those he hopes can help build on an already cracking campaign.
