William Muir and Chris Grassick had their day in the sun in the King George VI and Queen Elizabeth Qipco Stakes last year when Pyledriver made it High Noon for some illustrious rivals and the gunslinger will be back for more on Saturday when he looks to defend his impressive record at Ascot, live on Sky Sports Racing.
There is nothing that the six-year-old likes more than slugging it out on the famous Berkshire course and he made it three wins from four visits when beating West Wind Blows a length and a quarter in the Group 2 Hardwicke Stakes at Royal Ascot in June despite his trainers asserting that the race was need after a 336-day break from action.
From their base at Linkslade Stables in Lambourn, joint-licence holders Muir and Grassick have been ticking off the days for Pyledriver’s repeat bid and are confident that it will be an even more potent horse that faces the starter this time.
The effervescent Muir kindly talked to Tony Elves of attheraces.com about their stable star and several others that they hope can fly the flag for the Lambourn stable this season.
