This season, it paid to follow Yannick Fouin-trained horses in the major handicaps across France, and with forty horses pencilled in for the Cagnes-sur-Mer meeting this winter, it wouldn’t be a surprise if he added one or two more to his record. However, it is the three-year-old generation he is most looking forward to this winter.
“For one reason or another I didn’t have many three-year-old runners at Auteuil this season,” says the Maisons-Laffitte based trainer. “But I’m still very pleased how the season went as we won some nice big handicaps. As to Cagnes, I’m taking a lot of three-year-olds down there and we shall see how they go.”
On the first day of the Cagnes-sur-Mer meeting on 4 December, he saddled an astonishing fifteen runners, but had to wait for the second day of the meeting to record his first winner. Here, he tells us about a selection of horses that have already run, and others he is hoping will reveal themselves during the meeting.
Here, Fouin chats to Liz Price of attheraces.com about his hopes for the Cagnes-sur-Mer meeting this winter.
