Flight Command, the first progeny of Flightline to win in the U.S. − something he did by 10 lengths at Aqueduct on June 25 − is being pointed to the Grade 2, $250,000 Saratoga Special on Aug. 1.
Flight Command arrived in Saratoga on Wednesday after staying at Belmont Park for the last several weeks after the race.
“I didn’t want to bring him right away to Saratoga and get him all wound up,” trainer Rudy Rodriguez said. “He was comfortable at Belmont.”
Flight Command worked three furlongs in 38.80 seconds at Belmont on July 8 and is expected to work Friday or Saturday here.
“He’s doing good, he’s eating good, very mellow horse,” Rodriguez said.
