LIOSDUIN BHEARNA was last seen giving 1lb and a six-and-a-half-length beating to Blackjack Kentucky in a Doncaster handicap hurdle back in February, and with both bred to come into their own over the bigger obstacles, they could fight this out. The Wolf was turned over at odds-on in a two-runner Bangor affair on his return, but his Albert Bartlett seventh is evidence of his talent. L'Air Du Vent kept good company over timber, without managing to get his head in front, and he once gave Shiskin a race in a point-to-point.
A very interesting novice chase with a few of these appealing as the types to do well over fences. BLACKJACK KENTUCKY gets a narrow vote with the Paul Nicholls team continuing to knock in the winners on a regular basis but Liosduin Bhearna, Ashfield Paddy and Doc Penfro all have the potential to be big dangers.
MR. MIKE finished second in a more competitive race at Presque Isle Downs last month and could take some stopping here now starting life for new connections. Bar Cat and Togie can give the selection the most to ponder.
U W Brother comes into this third-up off the back of two solid efforts at Sha Tin. Joao Moreira retains the ride which suits and from the inside gate he should get every possible chance to break through. #8 Aurora Steed is racing well and slots in light with a good draw. #4 Happy Winner is slowly coming to hand. He mixes his form but he has shown flashes of ability, especially over this course and distance. #3 Speedy Optimist has an awkward gate but does get the services of Zac Purton. He bears close watching.
The first race looks a three-way contest between RIVER DOON, MAMA PYJAMA and EAST COAST STAR. All are improving nicely and ready to win for the first time. There is little to choose between them and the betting may show which runner is more favoured on the day. RIVER DOON was green but eye-catching on debut. MAMA PYJAMA takes a while to get going and is the only one to have gone the longer trip. EAST COAST STAR has blinkers fitted which may make her the hardest to peg back.
