Willie Mullins (25 October 2023): "He had a very unusual injury around this time last year. He came back from the gallop displaying signs of colic, but we couldn’t find any other evidence of colic. It transpired that he had a bleed on his spleen, which is very unusual. I had never come across it other than after a horse had a fall or other trauma. He’s a huge horse. He must be 17-2hh, probably the biggest horse we have in the place, and that can bring its own problems. He’s in great shape this year and I’m very happy with him. We’ll probably look to start him off in the Clonmel Oil Chase. The aim would be to get him back to the Ryanair Chase at the Cheltenham Festival. I know he won the Punchestown Gold Cup when we last saw him, but I think the Gold Cup trip at Cheltenham might be too much for him. The Ryanair suits him really well and that’s where I’d like to keep him."

Willie Mullins (14 February 2023): "He worked very well on Saturday. He came back, dried off, we put him into his box, and he had his lunch. Then after lunch, we found him to be a little bit distressed and we thought he was getting a colic, but it didn't look like a colic. It was something else. We brought him straight down to Fethard Equine Hospital and they found that he had got a bleed in his abdomen, which is hugely unusual. I don't think I've ever seen that in a horse before. He was comfortable over the weekend, but still critical. This morning, he moved off the critical list. His bloods and everything have come down to normal levels. I got a good word from the hospital this morning but, unfortunately, he won't make Cheltenham. I’d imagine that's him done for the season. Hopefully he’ll make a good recovery and be back for next season."

Willie Mullins (26 October 2022): "We have a couple of different options for his starting point. The Clonmel Oil Chase is one, but much will depend on whether the ground is soft enough. The John Durkan is an option, but that might a bit closer to the Christmas racing than ideal. He seems in great order and I’m hoping to have him ready in time for Clonmel if the ground is right for him there. If he gets to run in one of those earlier options, the timing could work out for something like the King George at Kempton, we’ll wait and see. I haven’t discussed it with the owners yet, but they have A Plus Tard for the Gold Cup, so it might make sense for this fella to go for a third Ryanair Chase, but there is plenty of time between now and those decisions being made."

Willie Mullins (24 February 2022): "The Ryanair Chase looks to be the race for him. He’s in great shape. He’d be the first one that comes to mind for me as the banker for us and I’d be very disappointed if he doesn’t run a really good race."

Willie Mullins (04 November 2021): "We tried him over a few different trips last season, but he was absolutely electric in the Ryanair Chase at the Cheltenham Festival, so it would probably be a surprise if he doesn’t end up back in that race again. Though, what we do between now and then is more of an open book and you’d never know what could happen. I don’t think he’d be a likely stayer in a Gold Cup, but he could be ok in the likes of the King George VI at Kempton and we’ve given him an entry in that to give us the option. I also wouldn’t be afraid to try him at two miles again. I didn’t think the race went his way when Chacun Pour Soi beat him over that trip at the Punchestown Festival and he’s better than that suggests."

Willie Mullins (22 February 2021): "He is set for the Ryanair Chase. I always thought he was going to be an out-and-out staying chaser, with the way he gallops and jumps, but his sire might hold him back a bit in stamina terms. He jumps very well and has a high cruising speed, so shorter trips might just suit him better."

Willie Mullins (02 February 2021): "We were very happy with him at Thurles. I thought three miles might be his trip, but maybe he's going to be better at around two-and-a-half miles. I’d imagine he'll go straight to Cheltenham and I'd be thinking he could go for the Ryanair."

Willie Mullins (19 February 2020): "Having talked to everyone at Cheveley Park the other day, I’d say the RSA Chase is his most likely target at this stage. Mind, there are plenty of people here that think he might be better suited to be Marsh, as he can be a bit keen. His next few bits of work will be crucial, as if he gets a bit lit up by his work, the temptation to go for the shorter race will be there. "

Willie Mullins (30 October 2019): "He’ll go novice chasing this season and looks a real nice type for that job. He has a great style of jumping fences and looks very promising. He is a staying type and would always appreciate a good cut in the ground."
