Expert Analysis
Scandinavia won his eighth race on the bounce, five of them at the top level, though was made to work a little by a front-running stablemate who has improved. The pace was strong, Queenstown making it a true test from the outset.
SCANDINAVIA tends to win without being impressive, and it was the same story here over a trip short of his best. Having tracked the leader in second, he responded well to pressure to lead a furlong from home and was well on top at the line. Both ParisLongchamp and Ascot are options for him to close out an excellent year.
QUEENSTOWN has improved this year, backing up a somewhat dubious effort in the Leger Trial here to put up a career best. Having made the running, he found plenty for pressure and will not have to face a rival of the winner’s class and toughness every day.
JAN BRUEGHEL was having his first run in 85 days and went as if it was needed. He sweated up beforehand and raced in rear, making significant late headway to finish a closing third. His head carriage was awkward, however, but this should set him up for a run in the Long Distance Cup.
TRUSTYOURINSTINCT is a course specialist here and won over this trip in a steadily run race last time but found this stiffer test of stamina against him and didn’t quite see it out.
LEINSTER has not been at his best this season and was out of his depth.
ARABIAN FORCE did not run to form but likely would have found this grade too much.
TENNESSEE STUD has not been at his best this season and was out of his depth.
